It was 12 weeks ago yesterday that we launched vod:pod. So it was entirely fitting and appropriate that yesterday we saw the most traffic to vod:pod in the 12 weeks since our launch. Here’s the updated graph for the past four weeks:

So vod:podders, thanks for your support! It means a lot, and makes us even more excited to build new features for you. And if you’re not vod:poddin’ — what are you waiting for?
(Entrepreneur’s Note for you Alexa-holics: our experience in the past month has taught us that Alexa is clearly flawed, and is significantly off in our case. Just one example among many — our traffic on Sunday and yesterday was about 50% higher than the spike we had December 5th. Yet Alexa shows our traffic declinging on Sunday, and far, far lower than our December 5 peak on their chart. We’ll see what they show for yesterday later today.)

We’ve offer search on vod:pod since we launched in December, but it was a little buried and not so user-friendly.
Well, we’ve just “unburied” it, and we think our search is much improved.
You’ll now find a search box at the top of every vod:pod page.

You can search for videos and Pods on vod:pod, as well as videos from YouTube, Google, Myspace, Daily Motion, Comedy Central, and iFilm. Wanna see the latest “Daily Show” clip? Just type “Daily Show” into our search box and voila.
The results are much easier to browser through (and nicer looking, too!). Here’s a sample of what results look like for a search on “Oscar”:

We show videos already added to Pods on vod:pod at the top. Click to watch the video in our pop-up window or to add it to your Pod. For vod:pod results, we’ve also provided handy links to the Pod where the video has been added, and the member who added it.
Give it a whirl, let us know what you think and if there are improvements you’d like us to make.

Our home page includes that felicitous phrase, along with the latest key stats: members, videos added to pods, and number of Pods.
In the four weeks up through February 12, vod:pod was indeed growing — 50% growth week-over-week in terms of people signing up to become members, visits and page views.
But the last week? Really growing, oh yes. Two to three times the visitors, page views, and new signups to vod:pod over the previous week.
Here’s a fun chart that shows growth in weekly visits (from Google Analytics):

It looks, based on traffic yesterday and so far today, that last week’s surge has pushed us to a new plateau — the new high level of usage we saw last weeks has continued this week. We have some fun things in store that should help us to make vod:pod more fun to use, and broader in it’s appeal, in the coming weeks. So stay tuned.
To all of you who are using the service, we thank you. And please let us know what we can do to make your vod:podding even better.
To you readers who haven’t tried it out yet — what are you waiting for!?

We love WordPress — it’s the software that powers this very blog, and we all use it on our personal blogs as well.
So we’re thrilled that they’ve enabled our vod:pod sidebar player on WordPress.com.
Wanna put video on your WordPress.com blog? Just:
1. Drag the nifty vod:pod widget onto your sidebar at WordPress.com (on the Dashboard, click “Presentation” then click “Sidebar Widgets”).
2. Put in the URL of your Pod (“yourpodname”.vodpod.com).
3. Get our nifty bookmark button on your browser toolbar.
You’re all set up to add videos to your WordPress.com sidebar player (and your Pod) with a click!
See a video on YouTube, Google video, Myspace, Comedy Central (for those Daily Show & Colbert videos) and dozens of similar sites, hit our browser button, and voila!
If you’d like further information, the folks at wordpress.com have a fabulous write up here.

We’ve just released what we think is the coolest widget or player you could possibly put on your Myspace of blog. Here it is:
Pretty cool, eh?
Now go get one for your blog or Myspace, it’s incredibly easy. Just sign up to vod:pod (if you haven’t already), drag our bookmark button to your browser toolbar, and put the Pod Player widget on your blog or Myspace. (We call it the vod:pod three step).
Next time you see a video on YouTube, Google, Daily Motion, Myspace, iFilm or dozens of similar sites, just click on the “Add to vod:pod” button and you’re done! The video goes in your pod — and on your Pod Player on your Myspace or blog.
You can customize the list of videos that go in your Pod Player if you like. Just go to the “Get Widgets” page, and select what videos from your Pod you want on your Pod Player. You can choose to put videos from a category on the Pod Player, or from a Top 10 List.
Last, you can always put someone else’s collection on your Pod Player if you want. Just go to the Pod you’re interested in, and click on the the link to “Put these videos on your blog, Myspace, or web page” to get the code. There are other ways to get the embed code, we’ll cover them all in the vod:pod forum. Feel free to ask questions if any of this is confusing!
