We’ve just hit a couple of really interesting and significant milestones for our 7-month-old service.
First, members have now collected videos from 1000 different video sharing sites. Sites like YouTube, Google Video, Myspace, Daily Motion, and Metacafe, but also hundreds of others ranging from Comedy Central to The Onion to GodTube (yes, really) to TeacherTube (we sense a naming trend).
Before we launched our service last fall, we made a bet that there would be an increasingly diverse range of sites offering video, and *sharing* it via an embed code. You can see the growth in the number of sites from which our members have collected videos here:

We coincidentally reached another important milestone today — we’ve surpassed 50,000 registered members at Vodpod. We’re glad to have each and every one of you here, and have been amazed, amused and occasionally surprised by your video collections.
You can see the growth in our membership here:

Now go invite your friends!
Traffic and usage of our members video collections continues to grow nicely, also, as shown here:

Finally, one last important and critical area of growth: there are now four of us here at Vodpod; Phil Kulak joined Spencer, Scott and me in late June. Since we’re counting things in this post, that’s an impressive 33% jump in Vodpod employees. (We’ll continue to grow our team — slowly, carefully — thanks to an investment by True Ventures — thanks, True!).
It’s hard to believe it’s been just seven months since we launched the service. Despite the excitement of hitting those milestone, we know we’re still very much at the beginning of all this, and we have lots of ideas about how to make the service better and to add to it.
To those of you who have joined and contributed to the Vodpod community — thanks. To everyone: stay tuned. More to come.
Can you turn on RSS feeds so that I can follow this blog? Thanks.
